At last, after 5 long years of our GC journey, USCIS's automatic Email notification greeted us yesterday with a great news of my I-485 approval. But it is still a semi-happy news as we are yet to hear about my spuse's approval.

Thank you all in this portal for such a great support to each other and information sharing.

Our case details below:

Approal Date: Dec 2004 :) (took almost 3 years)

Approval Date: 05/18/2005 :) (quick enough)

Receipt Date: 01/25/2005 (concurrent with I-140)
1st Finger Printing (Code 3): 03/10/2005
Name Check: 02/03/2005 till 06/28/2006 (took almost 1 and 1/2 years)
2nd Finger Printing (Code 1): 08/17/2006
Principal's Approval Date: 10/12/2006 :) (automatic Email notification)
Spouse's Approval Date: Yet to hear
 
Thanks everyone. My 485 approval notice has arrived in mail yesterday, and yet to receive the card.

And regarding my spouse's 485, received an email with following message -

"On October 17, 2006, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case. The notice explains in detail what additional material is needed. If you have questions about the notice, what is required, or if 30 days have passed and you have not received the notice. Please contact the service center where you submitted your application during business hours."

We are not sure what is that RFE going to be as we haven't received it yet. In the meanwhile there have been multiple LUD changes since 10/15.
 
Finally, my Green Card has arrived by mail on 10/21/2006 as a Diwali gift from USCIS :)

And my spouse's RFE also arrived by mail requesting Medical report in I-693 format. We will complete it this week and hope to hear the approval in couple of weeks.

Can you please advise how did you find out when was your namecheck done? Mine is sitting there for 1.5 years also, and I just recently did my 2nd FP. I'm not sure if the second FP is an indication of Name Check being done or it is just a renewal routine.

Hi Noun,

I took my local Congressman's "Help with Federal Agency Case Work" service in finding the status of my FBI Name Check. I strongly believe that my Name Check got cleared or expedited only because of diligent followup by Congressman's office.

And I also think that 2nd Finger Printing is an indication of Name Check clearance because it happened so in my case. So you can be hopeful of hearing your approval soon if your Priority Date is current.
