I-485 approved, NO SSN :(

:) My I485 just got approved. I am glad. But this doesn't mean a thing right now. I still don't have a Social Security Number.

:confused: I haven't yet received my GC. What is the procedure to apply for SSN? Do I need to wait to physically receive my GC..? Is there a way by which I can go ahead and apply for my SSN?

:( Please help...

You can get your social security number using EAD. If you have applied for EAD, then just wait till you get your 485 approval notice/card.

I just received an e-mail about my EAD being approved. Again... both, my EAD and I485, have been approved but I haven't "actually" received either.

So what now? Do I need to wait till I receive these or is there a way that I can apply for my SSN.
How long does it usually take to receive the GC?
How long does it take to receive an SSN after you apply?
 
If you have your 485 approved, wait for the card before applying for SSN. When you do it with an EAD, you will get a notation "valid only with USCIS work authorization" - similar to what you get with H1-B. I am told that the notation will be removed for permanent residents. After applying, you should get the SSN within 10 days.

Can you please share your dates? PD, RD, AP etc.. I'm curious because both your EAD and I485 got approved about the same time..
