Hello everyone

My ex just got her I-485 approved with her card in production:cool:. She was planning to travel next week. I assume it takes some time for her to receive her GC or her approval notice. Could she still leave the country and get back with her existing AP? or she needs to enter to the country with her GC?

I am still waiting for mine:(

She can reenter with the AP if she hasn't received the card yet. Things should be smoother upon re-entry if her passport has the I-551 stamp, but at the local office they may refuse to stamp the passport without at least an approval notice.

I am in a similar situation. I got my 485 approval email today and leaving for India in 3 days. I will not get the GC in hand in next 3 days and have no time to get I-551 stamped on passport. I do have a valid AP. Can I reenter USA with that valid AP? I am very confused.

Thanks.

Yes, you can enter the US with AP if your GC was recently approved and you didn't get the card yet (and the AP hasn't expired, of course). There may be a bit of delay at the port of entry, but you'll get let back into the country.

Thanks a lot, Jackolantern.

I will be entering in mid June and the approval is in mid May. I am leaving US in the next 3 days. I hope this qualifies as recent approval. And, yes, my AP will still be valid when I enter. What do I tell them at the port of entry? Should I tell them about the approval or keep quiet and just show the AP?

I have been very scared about this. You are very certain about this, right :)
