I-485 Approved but no letter or card

 Hello Gurus,
Last week ie 3/22/2006, I received a phone call from the Immigration officer who interviewed us that my Name check came through and he was going to approve the case.
However it's about 10 days now and still haven't received any approval letter or the card. I also went to the Houston office and they won't give me straight answer. Still rude and saying it's approve but we don't know the answer to your question.
Can anyone here has a clue what should I expect?
Thanks.

After waiting for more than 3 weeks after our interview, my wife received a receipt for form I-181 which was filed by the immigration officer in the local office. I believe this is the last step before ordering the card for people who were required to go for an interview. The I-181 application had a different receipt number than my wife's I-485 application, which explains why her I-485 wasn't updated on line.

I'm waiting for my I-181. Hopefully I will receive it soon. I bet you you will receive a notice soon. We never received any letters from the local office to prove that our applications were approved eventhough we saw the officer stamp our applications with the approval stamp.

Hang in there. I hope this helps!

Mr. Green, how long after you received your I-181, you received the card?

Today we received my I-181 notice. We both havn't received the cards yet. Our I-181 online status says that we are approved and a new card has been ordered!

May be tomorrow we will receive the cards! or May be not :D

Congratulations to you and your wife.
My dilema is that my case status online still says the same ie. when I filed the case and it's taking between so & so days.....
At least my status online should have been updated?

You are missing the point. Our I-485 status is also unchanged eventhough we were approved. It is possible that you have an I-181 application created for you and all of the changes will be happening to it and NOT your I-485 status! The missing link is that you don't know your receipt number for you I-181 until you receive a letter from USCIS. So wait, I think you will receive it soon!

Thanks Mr. Green, however I think there is something wrong with my case.
I spoke to the officer today using 1800 number and she mentioned that she doesn't see any changes on my records. Then she checked if the card has been order just in case and nothing there.
I am just worried how to approach this garbage, no one gives me any answer about my case at the local office and my I-765 will be expiring soon.

Next time you call, tell them, you're calling from local senator's office. They must attend your call full-heartedly. :p
