I-485 Approved at last

RD/ND: 4/12/2001
FP: Scheduled 12/21 done 12/5/2001.
  
   The AVM says that this case approved on 12/27/2001. My wife\'s message has not changed though.

Story:

   Sent in my 485 last november. Called lawyer to find out if everything was ok and all signatures ok? He took two days called back and said everything ok. End of december I call him and he said oops you forgot a signature so I fedexed him that. He filed on Jan 4th with expired forms. In the meanwhile he moved from San Antonio to California.

   For 2 months no news. Then he says oops wrong forms App returned so..
he files end of march with San Antonio address. I call INS get case numbers and give them to him. Also find there is an RFE on 765 for me and my spouse on June 27 and never receive them. Have him fax for status (10 faxes) no effect. I call INS they say we sent it our job is done. I tell them that the lawyers address is wrong but no effect. Lawyer says cannot do much now.

   So I called the local congressman and write a letter asking for help in attorney address correction end of september. Get that done and EAD approved in 3 weeks (October). No more movement in case. I called the congressman\'s office and ask for help this time end of November. Get the finger print notices 2.5 weeks later. Did those and here I am.

I am planning to contact congressman. How to approach do we have to write a letter or we have to meet them personally. Can you tell me your experience and also can you post the letter written to them. Will there be any backslash in contacting them.
 
Hi

I called his office and explained my situation. They told me to draft a letter detailing the same and fax it to them.

They were very courteous and helpful. I really believe my case went through only because of their intervention. I did not worry about any backlashes as INS had left me no place else to go.
