I-485 approved after company merger

Here is the info:

Country: India
Category: EB3 (RIR)
PD: May 08, 1997
ND: Sep 17, 1999
RFE sent: Jan 03, 2001 for copies of I-20 (wanted proof of my
          legal status as a student)
RFE replied: Jan 18, 2001. The AVM was never updated.
Approved: Mar 30, 2001
Approval Notice Received: Apr 09, 2001

My company got merged with another after I-140. I didn\'t apply for
a new I-140 and was not asked for one. I called VSC to enquire
around middle of March, 2001; was told that the application was in a
section where they are verifying for company name change/merger. My
I-485 application included a letter from my company and a document
announcing the merger. I work for a company which is a major defense
contractor.

Although this is my first post, I have periodically checked this site
for getting info. Thanks and good luck to all.

I just want to confirm if your 485 had a different employer name than your 140 ?

Yes, the names were different on I-140 and I-485 applications. I guess that is the reason I was told that the application was in "a section
for company name change/merger verification" (according to IIO).

did you get the approval notice directly from INS or did you get thru your attorney ?

It\'s really confusing (INS confusing).
Some peoples\' (w/ company name change) cases are
automatically put "ON HOLD", others are transferred
to company name change section !
I wish I can figure out why !
