Finally, after first arriving in the US in 5/97 on a 3 month visa waiver, and then re-entering on an L-1 visa in 12/97, our (my wife and I) passports were stamped today (11/5/01) in Chicago following I-485 approval a few weeks ago. In fact, we started the Green Card process when I switched employer in 3/99. The following represents my key dates and information:

Service Center: NSC
Country: Others (i.e. Europe)
Category: RIR/EB3

PD: 9/99
Labor Cert AD: 6/00
I140 RD: 7/00
I140 ND: 7/00
I140 AD: 8/00
I485 RD: 9/21/00
I485 ND: 10/16/00
Fingerprint Done: 3/01
Fingerprint Redone: 4//01
I485 AD: 10/9/01
Passport Stamping: 11/5/01

In terms of some friendly advice, I offer the following for those of you either embarking on the process or currently in the throws of it:

1. Be "anal"! i.e. be very particular in how you complete the forms and be detailed-oriented.
2. Hassle your lawyer! He or she is there to work for you or your company. You are their client - chase them up constantly.
3. Learn the process yourself! A little knowledge is a dangerous thing - but a lot of knowledge will take you a long way.
4. Be honest! Don\'t try and cheat the system - it may catch up on you.
5. and finally ... have faith in God ...

My final thought is one of sincere thanks to those on this board and others who share information (like Myladoor) - by throwing out a hand to those in need of help or those who simply need to know they are not suffering alone is a great deed!

Good luck to all ...
