I-485 approval? Is there a link to I-140?

I-485 approval? Is there a link if I-140 approval is from a non-VSC center?

Guys,

I have a puzzling thought.

Last time when I spoke with an IIO (8/26) regarding my I485 approval (RD:8/9), she said the case is yet to be assigned.

Simultanously, she also started searching for my I-140 file, but said couldn't find it. Since I didn't have the I140 receipt# with me at that time, I couldn't also help her in locating it. My I-140 was approved in June 2001.

She asked if my I-140 was done in VSC or elsewhere. I told her that I wasn't sure and I said that it could be from VSC or TSC because my labor most likely was from TSC (as my company's immigration office was in Texas).

My question:
1)Does it matter if I-140 approval file is not able to locate in VSC system?
2)At the time my I485 file is assigned to an officer, will he look for I-140 etc.
4)Will they send an RFE for want of I-140 file, though I've not heard of such RFE yet?
3)I also tried to locate today my I140 file using the SRC-01-042-52xxx number, but AVM says, it can't find this file.
4)Is there is phone number to call TSC?

I'd appreciate any inputs on this.

It looks to me very strange that you do know about your 140 approval details like from which service center it is approved, at least you should be able to call your lawyer now to find out about that.

OR Am i missing something????

If INS finds that your Labor and I140 were approved from different service center then it will be a ? mark for them to find your file at VSC. Most of the times they may not able to approve straight a way in these circumstances.....may ask you for info...

dma_va, this is what I read somewhere:

At times INS checks for original I-140 approval while processing I-1485. If it can't find the original.. it issues a request to search for I140 ( I guess they try this two times). If it still can't find the original.. then they accept photocopy of I140 approval.

Maybe in your case they are waiting for original I140 to come from TSC ( just a guess though and as you can see.. I mentioned read somewhere.. so its not reliable info).

Thanks for the info.

I posted a photocopy of my I-140 (TSC) on Saturday.

I talked to an IIO today (8/5) at VSC, and the lady said that I-140 is not an issue in my case and my file is not on hold or anything. It's just a matter of getting assigned.
