Hey everyone I have a couple of questions--
For some background: my family's I-485 application was finally approved on February 15, 2007 after 6 years waiting since we applied in January of 2001. The main applicant is my mother [EW3] and her 3 sons as dependents (EW0) The "welcome letter" we received was the I-797 form by the 4 of us. This form told us that quote:
"The above application has been approved. Prior to receiving your permanent resident card you may be required to report for biometrics processing (photo/fingerprint/signature). Please do not take any action at this time. If you are required to report for this processing, you will receive another notice advising you of the date, time and location to appear.
If you have not received your permanent resident card or the above mentioned notice to appear for biometrics processing within 90 days, please call this office at the number listed below.".
So about 2 weeks ago only the 3 of us except for my mother received the notice for code 2 biometrics, which was the index finger+photo+signature, it is my understanding that this is the very last step and the green card comes next, me and my 2 brothers completed this today March 23, 2007. So question 1 is how long before people usually receive their green cards in the mail after this step?
My second question is why my mother did not receive this notice to do the biometrics. Since the letter does say that you can either get your green card within 90 days or this biometrics notice before that there is a chance she might just receive the green card and not have to do the biometrics we did today. But again, I have no idea if this is actually the case. Does anyone have any experience with something similar? Why did she not receive the code 2 biometrics? Is it unusual for an EW3 to not receive the code 2 notice while dependents do?
Some clarification would be very welcome.
