I-485 Application

Hey guys, I am fairly new to this forum, eventhough I was granted Asylum back in 2003, I did not apply for PR until FEB 17 of this year. I was surprised by the fact that both my wife and I got very quickly the RFI, which we will mail on 03/09/2006, I am the principal in the application.

Eventhough the form said to file in Nebraska, I am getting all of my notices from TSC.

Does anyone have a timeframe of how long it is taking, once they recieve the RFI, to move on to the next step, which I am guessing is the BIO?

Thanks!

You will get your card before the end of the year, probably sooner. You are luckier than those who applied years ago. Yes, BIO is the next step for you it seems. After that within 3 months or so you will get your approval, unless they ask for more evidence.

Thanks Clotty, eventhough I was approved on 03/2003 I had not applied to PR based on the fact that it was taking so long INS to adjust asylees to PR. I hope yours comes through quickly :)

See, that is the reason you are lucky because due to some changes with IRS (caps removal; distribution of workload among service centers, etc) things have speeded up lately and therefore you are on the same timeline boat as those who applied years ago. If those changes had not happened, your waiting to apply just because you thought it would take long would have made your journey even longer because you would have to wait for years and any year spent refraining from applying would have been a year lost for you, BUT since things changed , your application will be approved in a speedy way and you will get your GC without waiting for years. These changes with INS was not something one could have expected to happen a few years ago; I mean there was hope that it would happen, but nobody could predict exactly when things would speed up like this, so you ARE lucky, man. Thanks for your good wishes for my case. Good luck to you too.
