I-485 and payroll issue

Hi all,

1) To start the I-485 process, is it imperative that the applicant be on the payroll of the sponsoring company. Ideally, we would wish so. But if that is not the case, would there be any problems during the process?

2) Are pay-stubs a part of the initial I-485 application package?

3) During the course of the I-485 process, does the applicant mandatorily be on the payroll. Else will the GC process stall?

(I am just coming off reading cases like http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?threadid=52864 and wonder how this all fits)

Thanks for the info.

Ideally, if your company sponsors your I-485, that means you are on their payroll. Other than that, why would a company sponsor you if you dont work for them?
Some applications may get complicated in the end, specially when INS issues RFE for paystubs and employment letter or W2, then you will have to have some valid explanations for it.
