I-400 Item 8 - list unauthorized employment?

I'm now on my 10 year green card through marriage and am about to be eligible to apply for citizenship under the 3 year rule. When filling out the N-400, Item 8 asked for 5 years of complete employment/ education history. Throughout the green card process I've never been asked for a detailed listing of my work history that occurred prior to getting my green card and I was unemployed when I first applied. I was employed off and on during years 1-2 (prior to getting my green card) and paid income/state taxes under my current SSN.

My questions are:

1. Do I list the employment I had while "out of status" in years 1-2 and will it cause my N-400 to be denied?
2. Is it better to wait five years before applying to avoid this issue?

Often people applying under the 3-year rule cross out the 5's and write in 3's because that's what they care about anyway.

But unauthorized employment is definitely not going to be a problem because you already got permanent residency. If it wasn't a problem then it's even less going to be a problem now.
