I-400 Issue

Hey guys, I am a big fan of this site and have been reading a few of the past posts.

So here is my situation>

I am 21 years old (about to be 22 soon). I am currently in the process of filling out my I400 form so I can submit it by the end of the month. Now, I received an underage drinking ticket back in 2008 when I was in university. Not too big of a deal, went to court, told me to complete an education class, and it was dismissed. Earlier this year I completely expunged it from my records and I checked with the state and they have no record of it anymore.

Now, I am obviously going to say on my I400 about the ticket. My questions are:

1. Will this be a big deal in getting my citizenship? I have no other issues at all. I am a student going to a pretty good school, and going into a pretty good job.

2. What sort of papers should I get for the interview? I never saved my papers from the court and now its completely expunged so there is literally 0 record of any paperwork what so ever. Would just bringing a letter from court showing I have no record be sufficient?

Thank you very much.

If that's the only issue you have, and it looks like it is not deportable ... as all you had to do was an education class ... they are not going to make an issue.

However, expungement does not mean expungement for immigration purposes. The record is still there. Go to the county / department where you had this processed, and I am sure they can pull this out. Zero record means it is not available to others, but to you - it should be.

Expungement doesn't mean anything to immigration. They can still see the charges in their background checks and will expect you to produce the court documents.

Go to the court in person or call them up and request for a court dispostion letter..... its pretty easy to get that.
Once you get that, then your N-400 will move pretty smoothly and get your citizenship pretty soon......
