my friend in such situations instead of losing heart and crying over split milk it is better to look for solutions.
First of all speak to ur DSO see what he/she can do for u in this case .Iam sure there is a way out of this.Ou can apply for reinstatement since it is not more than 5 months out of status,the other thing is u cud ask ur school to issue u a new I20 and then u can exit and reenter the country however this option is risky and i wud suggest the first option.there is one more option u can file for permanent residency even though ur not in legal status contact some good lawyer...........
