Hi,
I am on H1B visa here in US. I was driving in San Diego very close to the border. By mistake i missed an exit and the highway immediately went into Mexico. Its surprising they don't have any gates/tolls/visa-checks to indicate that we are entering Mexico. I realized i was in Mexico only when the signs were in Spanish.
Finally when i wanted to re-enter US, they asked for my passport and H1B approval notice which i did not have. They filled in for me I-193 which is a waiver to passport and visa and let me in. They also gave me a I-94. The I-94 had the next day date on it and they told me thats the time i have till i can get to my original documents.
My question is that when someone asks me "What is your last port-of-entry?" would it be the Mexico one even though my passport does not have that stamp on it ? Also, when someone asks me for my I-94 would it be the one they gave at Mexico border or the one which i already have in my passport ?
Thanks a lot for your help in advance.
