I-140 RFE and EAD Renewal ?? Help ??

I got RFE on I-140 and my first EAD expires in 4 months. Is it a good time or OK to apply for EAD Renewal while I-140 is in RFE stage.

What is the best way to file EAD, online (electronically) or papers (manually)
