I filed my I-140 under NIW category and mentioned in that form that i will go to a US Consulate outside the country to get my visa/GC.

later, i found out that i should have mentioned *adjustment of status* instead of CP.

my !-140 is not approved yet.

what do i do now? any help appreciated.

You can file for I-485 either after I-140 approval or right away (that makes it concurrent filing). You do not need any special paperwork to convert form CP to I-485. FYI CP can be much faster and more straightforward and you should get an interview date within 7 months of I-140 approval. I-485 is taking upto 2 years now.

thanks nkm-oct23 for your quick reply.
i have 5 years to wait for my I-485 approval as mine is an NIW (I-140) physician in underswerved area. i can not file CP until end of 5 years.

So my Q is:
do I need to send in form I-824 now for this change of place in processing (i wrote CP when it should have been AOS) in addition to the I-140 already submitted.
