I-140 Job and the H-1 extension Job -

Hello folks,

Can we carry over the priority date of the inital labor for one kind of job to another labor?

Should the 7th year H-1 extension job and the I-140 job on the basis of which H-1 extension is being applied be the same?

OR as long as you have an approved I-140 for no matter what kond of job
you can use it to apply for H1 extnesion, even if unrelated job?

H1b is temporary non-immigrant work visa, whereas labor certification/I-140 is permanent/future job, I-140 job need not have to be same as h1b job, it may be different or same, based on an approved I-140 you get 3 years extension on original h1b, if h1b occupation or job duties is going to be changed then an amendment has to be filed (h1b)
