Hi, everybody,
I am trying to figure out how to fill in form I-140 and I-489. I have some question to ask.
I am a Permanent Resident of New Zealand and resided there four years before I came here, USA, as a F-1 student in September 2000. In August of 2002, I landed Canada as a Permanent Resident of Canada from Buffalo. I have only stayed in Canada four days and then came back without any record/visa on my passport by using valid F-1 I-94. But I do have a Canada immigration stamp with enter date on my passport. So, I have the following questions:
1. In I-140, which county should be my “last permanent residence abroad”? New Zealand or Canada?
2. In I-485, which date should be my “Date of last arrival”? September 2000 or August 2002? Depands on the answer of above question?
3. In question 2 if using August 2002, “In what status did you last enter”? Visitor? Student? Or without inspection?
4. In I-485, what is the meaning of “Were you inspected by a US Immigration Officer”? How do I know to chose “Yes” or “No”?
Thank you in advance and waiting for your answers.
James
