I-140 filed/still pending/ Can I file I-485?

My I-140 was filed few months back, still pending. Can I file I-485 now since my PD has become current or shall I have to wait until my I-140 gets approved. All I want to know is that if for some reason a person couldn't file I-140/485 concurrently, can (s)he file 485 anytime after filing 140 or does (s)he have to wait until the I-140 gets approved?

You dont have to wait for I140 approval. You should be able to file 485 now.
