Hi, I have my I-140 approved but my L1A visa is due to expire in August 2006.
Do I need to submit all the neccessary paperwork to get my L1A extended?

I'd say so. Unless you file for an extension of your non-immigrant visa, filing for a green card only gives you lawful (if temporary) status if your I-485 is pending. I couldn't tell from your message if you filed I-140/I-485 concurrently. If so, you are legally present in the US for as long as I-485 is pending. Still, you might want to consider extending your non-immigrant status to fall back on should your I-485 be denied for any reason.
