I-140 and I-485 are pending since 2003

We filed I-140 and I-485 on September 2003. We got our AP and EAD twice already. I-140 and I-485 are still Pending. FP done on April 2004 and April 2005.
Any advices how we can speed it up?
A lawer sent an inquiry regarding both. He didnt get anything regarding I-140 but got reply for I-485 saying that they are waiting for FBI name check. I called to FBI, and they said that they sent reply back in april 2004..
I dont know what to do-to send a letter to a senator or hire a new attorney??
Please help!
