I-140 ammendment in advance, any effect on I-485??

Hi gurus,

If someone file I-140 ammendment in advance to be on safe side (while 485 is in process) , does this has any effect on 485?? I am pushing my attorney to file I-140 ammendment due to company merger (name change). My fear is , if I get I-140 ammendment RFE, I want to be ready in advance.
On the other hand if I wont get I140 ammendment RFE, can this effect 485 processing in anyway?

                      purchase is a successor for purposes of continued validity of the other company\'s
                      labor certification applications. A new I-140 is required unless AC21 portability
