Hey guys,

I hope you are having a great summer!

I just had a question about the travel document. I was admitted to the US as a student with an F1 visa. Now that I am in the process of adjusting my status, I have some plans to travel abroad so I applied for a travel document which was approved. My question is if I leave the US and come back does this document guarantee that I will enter the US? Has anyone had a problem with this?
I really would like to travel overseas but I am not sure if this is the right decision as my travel is not very urgent. Please advice me on this especially those who have had similar experience.

Wish you all the best:).

Nothing can guarantee you entry to the USA. Not a visa, not an advance parole.

However, I have not heard of a single case in this forum where someone was denied entry on AP. I traveled using it myself.

The only restriction would be if you ever accrued illegal presence of 180 or more days. That would get you a bar from re-entering the USA. Other than that, do not worry you will be fine.

Just take your passport, all copies of the AP document and your I-485 receipt.
