I-131 questions

I have been recently told that I'm not spending enough time in the US and must file for an I-131 travel document.

I come back every 4 months, for about 2 weeks. I'm away at school and will be back in the US for good by next august.

I have a few questions i'm hoping someone can answer!

- Is this travel document a one time thing or can i re-enter multiple times for the period of 2 years that it is valid?

- How long does it take to process the initial application once filed and to recieve a date for biometrics?

- Seeing as how i am currently out of the country and will be returning mid december, i'm hopeing to file now and recieve a letter to show up for biometrics around the time i will be in the US. If however i can not make the scheduled time, can i re-schedule? or can i just show up the office with my letter and hope that they take me? ( i did the later for my biometrics of my greencard, it was a slow day and i came at almost close, so maybe i can do the same for this)

- Once my biometrics is done, when and how will i be issued this I-131? Because I won't be in the country very long, will it show up when my passport is scanned, or must i carry an actual physical document with me?

That's pretty much it, if anyone has anymore insight into this, i would appreciate it very much.

Thanks,

M

Rentry permit is valid for 2 years and you can use it until its expiry date. As for your biometrics, if you miss it, you can go anytime before a certain date listed on the notice to get it done.

they will issue you a RP maybe in 3-4 months and mail it to your address listed on the I-131 form.

It is valid for multiple entries until it expires.

After biometrics it generally takes 3-6 months to be issued. The biometrics date will normally be 2-4 weeks after you file the application.

You're not allowed to file it outside from the US. You must be physically in the US on the day it is filed (filing date is considered the date USCIS receives it), or they will reject or revoke it if they realize you were outside the US at the time of filing.

You can have it sent to your US address, or to a consulate abroad where you will pick it up. You need to show it when you enter the US.
