I-131 question someone please help

My wife and I (USC) married in september. i sent the I485 package (I130, I765) to chicago lockbox on 9-19-06. Receive date is 9-20-06 and notice date is 9-26-06. biometrics is scheduled for 10-19-06.
My question is I want to travel to my wife's home county in about 2 to 5 monthes. I was told not to file the I131 because it would be better to wait.
Can I file the I131 now and would I be able to travel in about 2 to 5 monthes or sooner. Or would it be about the same waiting for approval for GC which I don't anticipate any problems with.
My notice date and other forms are being sent from Lee's Summit, Mo. How do I check the process times (I cant find it anywhere).

If you are USC all you need is a passport. Your wife is the one who needs to file 131 for Advance Parole. She can't travel without AP while I-485 is still pending. It could be a reason for denial of her green card later. She can still file for AP with a copy of the I-485 Receipt Notice and all applicable documents and fee as per instructions on form. Dont let your wife leave the US without Advance Parole
