I-131 confusion

I'm gathering all of the various forms and documents to apply for a green card as I got married last october to a USC. i'm british and i've been living here legally on an ivisa for a few years, and am applying for a change of status. however, i'm confused by the (optional) I-131 form, 'application for travel document'. I understood that you needed to complete it to receive advance papers ahead of your green card being processed so you can come in and out of the country. i've ticked the box for 'more than one trip' but it's also asking for a specific date I need to leave and appropriate documents to back that up. i don't have a date i need to leave, but i would like the travel document while my card is being processed in case of an emergency (my father is quite old and I still have some business in the UK). do i pick a random date or mark it 'none', and what documents do I need? also, does anyone know roughly how long the permission to travel papers may take to arrive? thanks in advance for any information - tony

the date you will give do not have to be exact. It really doesn't matter. I applied in Nov, and I checked Jan. Multiple or not is totally up to you. I got mine AP 61 days later.

dates and duration do not matter. You can write any date. It takes anywhere between 30 and 90 days for your AP to be processed and approved.

I didn't use any supporting document. Just wrote a letter saying that I wanted to visit my home country.
