On Question B13, it asks for my Naturalization Certificate Number and Issuance. I can no longer find my Naturalization Certificate. I just have my US passport. What do I do? How do I answer this question?

Thanks.

You mean you lost it? If so, you can file form N-565 to replace it.

Thanks. On the N-565 form it again asks me for the Certificate Number which I don't know because I lost my Naturalization Certificate. What di I do now. Will they turn it down if I don't have one?

I don't think so. You might be called for an interview if they have any questions. But you have to know that it takes a long time to get a new certificate (a year or even more). Don't you have any copies? How long ago you got your certificate?

Anahit, Oh my goodness!! I am filling out paperwork to petition my wife. So, you mean to say I have to wait a year because I need to get this certificate first in order to petition my wife? I lost this certificate in the 90's and I don't have a copy - only my passport. Isn't that enough? Boy, where do I go from here?

Logically, your passport is enough proof of your citizenship. Thus, you should be able to petition your wife. Maybe you CAN use your passport to petition her? Call the 800 number and try to talk to an immigration officer (not just the operator) to get an answer.

One more thing...
If someone became a citizen through his/her parents, and never applied for the certificate, they just send a copy of their passport: they don't have a certificate. Now, if you became a citizen through naturalization or your parents, did have a cerificate which got lost, you should be able to apply with a copy of your passport, as well.
In the worst case scenario, you could file I-565 to replace your certificate, and enclose a letter with your wife's package about your certificate being lost with a copy of the receipt for I-565.
Good luck!
