Hi,
Recently I became USA citizen so I am planning on apply for my mother soon. My father is passed away in 2009. But my father first name is spelled differently in all my documents. please see bellow points:
  • My father first name is spelled as Safiul in all of my documents (eg. certificate, birth certificate, passport and all USA documents including citizen certificate).
  • My father first name is spelled as Shafiul in all his documents, mother documents and my sibling documents.
Can you please advice how should I mention my father first name in the I-130 form and what is the solution for that? This would be a issue when I apply for my siblings as well. Thank you all in advance for your advice. I really appreciate all of your help.

Regards,
Nazmul

Use father's correct name as spelled out in his documents (passport, death certificate etc).

Why was there a discrepancy to begin with? It should have been corrected when initially noticed on your birth certificate or passport.

Thanks for your reply @1AurCitizen. yes I carried this mistake in my whole life. I thought it won't be any problem but now I am realizing that it would be a big problem when I apply for my mother and siblings. So what will happen if I put my father's correct name (as per his documents) in the I-130 form? It will not match with my existing record.

Hi @nkkhan81, what happened in your case? I am facing similar situation. My father name is spelled different in his passport compared to my docs, I wanna file for him but not sure what to do. His name on his passport and marriage certificate match though
