I-130 Immigrant Visa for spouse

My wife and I married in Vietnam on December 01, 2001 and I have filed for her Visa just this month December 18, 2001. Because I am a born US Citizen is there any way possible to expidite the process once I receive receipt of my application? I understand that it should take from 6 months to one year but even six months seems like forever to us right now :( Is there any process of request that I can take in the near future once the application has a date and processing number ... to expedite her Visa ?
 
Try applying for a K3 non-immigrant visa. It should be a lot faster!!!

If you apply for a K3 visa, you should be able to bring your wife to the states while you wait for the I130 approval. This new visa was passed as part of the LIFE act. You need to fill out a new version of form I129F from the INS website. I am in a similar situation with my wife, and I am hoping to reunite with her as soon as possible. I wish you the best.
