Hi -
My wife (a naturalized US Citizen) would like to bring her parents to live with us here in the US. She is an only child, so her parents have no other living direct relatives. I have no doubt they will be approved.
We are starting the I-130 forms and I am concerned about restrictions that may exist between the amount of time from a Visa being granted and travel to the US. The reason for my concern is that her parents would need to sell off their land and home before being ready to move permanently to the US - it could take a year or more to do this and I do not want to get the Visas to early if this is the case. The flip side is that I'm afraid if they do not sell everything before moving, they will lose their property rights or not be able to fight off a challenge to their property rights should one arise.
Can anyone help me out? Are there any time restrictions from the date the visa is issued to the time of travel? Does anyone have a similar experience they can share?
Thanks
Dan
