Hi, I have tried to collect information by looking at USCIS site on the procedure to start GC for my mother. But it seems that I might be missing something.
My situation: US Citizen (naturalized) living is US. Mother is in India (Indian Citizen). My mother probably will not get visitor's visa, which is what we want, but I don't see her getting it (due to less financial ties, less family ties, etc.). So my plan is to sponsor her, get her here for a visit on GC, and than voluntarily give it up at the US consulate in Mumbai (thereby showing non-immigration intent) and apply for visitor's visa. I have read that this approach works for visitor's visa.
But anyways, here are my questions:
1. Can you point me to any location for a step by step on this process?
2. I understand that the first step is to file I-130. Do I need to send any other form showing that I can provide 125% above poverty level (financial form for support ??)
3. After I-130 is approved, if I am not yet ready to take the next step, what is the process? The approved I-130 will be valid indefinately, how do I go about re-starting her immigration process if I want to take, say a year, before starting her immigration process at the US consulate in Mumbai? I really want to get the I-130 approved, even if she is not yet ready to come.
Thanks for the info.
