I-130 approved, send I-485?

Hello,

My new wife and I mailed in her 1-130 and her I-485 at the same time. Just last week we had our first interview. I belive the interview went ok for the most part, but they did have an issue with the affidavit of support. I didn’t make enough money over the last three years, because I was going to school and not working much. However, my income is $50,000 now, but they say they can’t base the affidavit of support on my current or future income. It’s hard to believe they are more worried about how much I made in the past then how much I am currently making. Anyway, I was told we could get a co-applicant for the affidavit of support. The officer said to just mail the co-applicants affidavit of support to her and she would then review the case. I mention all of this, because at the end of the week we received a I-797 Notice of Action. The letter states her I-130 was approved and we should send in the I-485 now. Is this just a form letter that they send to everyone once their I-130 is approved? What does the approval of the I-130 mean? Should we ignore the part that tells us to send in our I-485 since it was submitted already? Are they still waiting for the co-applicants affidavit of support or does the approval of the I-130 mean they don’t need it anymore? Is the I-130 and I-485 normally approved at the same time?

Thanks in advance.
