Hi,

In 2003 I had filed an 1-130.

I received an Approval notice at my old california address. I now live in NJ.
However the approval notice is confusing. This is what it says:

====================================================
"The above petition has been approved. The petition indicates that the person for whom you are petitioning is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status. The information submitted with the petition shows that the person for whom you are petitioning is not eligible to file an adjustment of status application at this time.

Additional information about eligibility for adjustment of status may be obtained from the local INS office serving the area where the person for whom you are petitioning lives.

Until the person for whom you are petitioning files an adjustment application or applies for an immigrant visa, this approved petition will be stored in this office. if the person fo rwhom you are petitioning becomes eligible to adjust status based on this petition he or she should submit a copy of this notice with Form 1_485. Application for Permanent Residence.
====================================================

Has anyone received anything similiar or is aware wat it means?

Thanks in advance.

Hello!
Are you a Green Card Holder who you filed your I-130 for a spouse of the green card holder?
If it’s right then what it says on your approval notice is true.
Your petition is approved, however your spouse is not eligible to file I-485 at this time since the visa number is not available to him or her yet. According to the Visa bulletin, for a family second preference they are currently working on cases filed on or before October 1, 2000.
You can check it right here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_2084.html
And here is another good link for you to read: http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/immvisa.htm
Good luck!

They are curently giving visa number till 22 april 2001

Hello there , i just read your question and i can tell you because you are on a priority date , you will need to wait till it becomes curent before you file for adjustment of status . However check the visas availability to see if your priority is in 2001 because they are processing till 22 april 2001 now if it`s not you have to wait for it ...
