I-130 and change of address?

[/B]My wife has greencard and we married in april'2006. I am on H1 visa (postdoctoral fellow) now. We wanted to file our I-130 application (green card petition for spouse). She is working in california and i am working in tennessee.

1. We are giving california address in I-130 (question C.2; information about your relative) and I will have to give my employment address in G-325a application (tennessee address), is that OK.

2. After we file I-130, if i change my job to some other location (other than california), will my I-130 still work or I need to go for a new application, or just informing the change of address is fine?

please help me with these questions.
thanks

Out of interest, why are you filing just I-130? For quicker processing you can file I-130 and I-485 concurrently, and your H-1B will remain valid until you get your Green Card, assuming it is valid for a significant period of time.

As for your change of address, it can cause issues with USCIS, but as long as you file the correct change of address forms and call USCIS to verify the change of address with them it should be fine.

As for your 2nd question, your I-130 is not linked to your job so it will have no effect. You'd be better off filing I-130 and I-485 together with an EAD application, then you could go to a different job without having to worry about getting a new H-1B.

File I-130....can i file I-485 seperately..

We already filed I-130. the current processing date is dec'2004. my I-130 will take approximately 1.5-2 years. can I file I-485 and EAD applications before I-130 approval. can we proceed with I-485 filing with the receipt no. of I-130

Thanks

How long ago did you file I-130? If you filed I-130 and I-485 together you could have your green card in as little as 4 months, as they adjudicate them together at interview.

You mentioned that your wife is Green card holder right. If so then you got to wait till you get your I130 approved and Visa number to become current. if your wife is citzen then only you can file 130 and 485 concurrently.

Crap. Thanks ravibudp. I must have been asleep at the wheel there. Yes, sorry. You're right he can't filed I-485 until his I-130 has been approved. Apologies all around.
