Hello All,

I have a good news to share with you.
Our (my hubby's and mine) I485 got approved from Dallas,Texas on Jan 22, 2003.
Its an employment based one.

Here are the details:
His RD is July 2001. It was in Nebraska Centre.

We got married in Jan 2002 and my application was added in Feb,2002.

I gave my FP in June, 2002.

But at the final stage, our case was transferred to TSC (Oct 2002) saying that was to speed up the processing. (We live in Dallas, TX).

Finally we got the interview on Nov 22, 2002.

We went happily thinking that our passports will be stamped since we were not aware of the freeze then.

The Docs to take (to help those who attend the intvw):
** W2 forms and Tax Returns for the past three years.
** If you have changed your job, a letter from your employer stating the same job description and an equal or higher salary.
** If married, some legal document with both the names.
Our Indian Marriage certificate is not considered.
You can take Loan(Mortgage), Insurance, Credit card copy (if you share the same number), Bank statement (better a letter from your bank as they have a format), Safe deposit aggreement, Some photos..... to name a few.

The officer said that we had been called for interview as my app was added in the final stage. Since some people get married just to get the GC, they wanted to make sure that a valid marriage exists.

We submitted all docs at interview and then the arrow was thrown that INS has stopped stamping the PP and we may get the notice in 2 weeks.

As you all know, it didnt happen.
Only then I started searching for info on INS issues and found this forum informative. (One suggestion: I had been trying to post the approval message since 22nd so that people will get a li'le hope. But couldn't add as I had to go thro the registrn process. There can be some email address specified, to which some meg could be sent. I think there may be more approvals but people may not post as they may not find time to go thro regrn...)

Since our case was transferred, we didnt have a no. to check the status online..

From then on, we waited, waited n waited....
The short period which puts more stress on you than the entire process time.

Finally we got the Approval on Jan 22, 2003 and are relieved from the pain of waiting.

I wish you all Best Of Luck.
Hope everyone hears a good news soon.

Hey PhoenixGC,

That's a great news indeed! We certainly appreciate that you took your time to register and share your good news with us. It does make us happy too to know that our applications are not put in the freezer.

If it is not too much of a burden, may I suggest that you enter your data in our trackers too?

1. http://www.e-nairobi.com/aos/
2. http://www.rupnet.com/immigration/

I know you have a celebration to do in your mind. We will understand if it is a pain to do 2 more registrations (to enter data in the trackers). But it will be a great help for us all!

Good luck on your future! :)

Thank you for sharing your news.

Phoenix gs, its people like you who keep this forum alive. Thank you for your info. Why was you r case transferred to Texas? Did you guys move to this area? I wonder with their backlog if Texas would send out some cases to other service centers to speed up the process. ALL THE BEST TO YOU GUYS.

Interviews for EB I-485??

I thought that employment based green cards were approved without interviews. I swear I have seen many approvals w/o interviews. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

My wife is a beneficiary for my I-485 application. Does this mean that I have to go to an interview b4 my green card gets approved?

No, it doesn't mean that you will have an interview. INS certainly has the prerogative to call you in for an interview to verify information. Certainly in these difficult economic times, with many people changing/losing jobs, there are more people getting these interviews, as well as RFEs, which 18 months ago were virtually non-existent.

I am 100% sure PhoenixGS's case was processed

by local INS, not regional INS (TSC). But I am amzed how fast the locas Dallas INS scheduled interviews.
