How would one know that I -140 was aproved for CP or AOS?

My I-140 was approved in Sep , 2001 (I had opted for AOS) and My I-485 is on file since Oct 1, 2001. From the discussion board, I am hearing that even if one opts for AOS, the I 140 might be approved for CP?? If so how do I find out? thanks

Yours is AOS, I assume

If CP, in the Approval it would say "we have sent it to the National Visa Center"
