How to withdraw GC aplication and re-apply??

I have a pretty big problem.
I applied for Adjustment o status in October 2015 based on marriage and then traveled outside the US on my F1 visa. I didn't now this is not possible. They let me back in, but the USCIS found out.
To get my I-765 as soon as possible, I was advised to withdraw my whole application and reapply.
Is there a timeframe or reapplying or can I send both documents (withdrawal and reapplication) out at the same time?
 
You don't need to "withdraw"; your application is abandoned; it will be denied. And there is no prohibition on filing another Adjustment of Status while one is pending.
 
USCIS hasn't quite figured it out yet though. They haven't send me a denial yet or anything. Should I still just send a new application.
Won't that confuse them?
