How to verify FBI name check?

When does USCIS (during the I-485 process) send for the FBI name check? Same time as for FP? Here are my details:

I-485 RD/ND: 05/03
FP appointment: 03/04
Results received: 05/04

Now how do I know if the name check was performed too, and what the results was? Can we call/fax to the same numbers as in FP?

RD: 04/24/03
ND: 05/06/03
FP: 03/04/04
Processed by FBI: 03/05/04
Received by USCIS0: 03/06/04

The information in the last two lines was given to me by FBI Rep. when I called them after 10th. Status was updated mine for my wife, but mine still shows as "notice has been sent requesting FP ...".

I spoke to USCIS recently, and was told that it is not the name check always for which the case is not touched. She told me to wait for another 3-4 months before finding out whether it is for name check or not ?
