How to understand case numbers ?

Is there some logic (i.e., date received, date I-140 approved etc.) in the case
number assigned for CP ? For example, for the EB-1, I am seeing the following
cases in ND (none of which is mine as I don't have a case number yet):

NWD2004093002 E1 7/6/2004 10:00:00
NWD2004156001 E1 7/7/2004 09:00:00
NWD2003794007 E1 7/16/2004 10:00:00
NWD2003800018 E1 7/21/2004 10:00:00
NWD2004529025 E1 7/21/2004 10:00:00
NWD2002665002 E1 7/22/2004 10:00:00
NWD2003597002 E1 7/26/2004 09:00:00
NWD2003664004 E1 7/26/2004 10:00:00
NWD2004127022 E1 7/26/2004 10:00:00

What can be inferred from these NWD* case numbers ?

Thanks.

Hi Drak,

The only conclusion that I’ve drawn on the case # assigned by NVC is as follows:

XXXYYYY######

XXX = Post, NWD for Delhi, MDR for Chennai, etc.
YYYY = Year of processing start
The rest seems to be a sequential # assigned by NVC; I’ve seen # sequences that runs interspersed with K1, E, F and other categories so must be just sequential.

Rjain.

PS: I’m not an expert in this matter, just a GC applicant like you who’s now a week away from coming out of the torture process!

Thanks Rjain!

Also thank you for inspiring a few other Delhi CPites to share information here. Going by the log here, the current level of info sharing among Delhi CPites is quite exciting!!

Hi Drak,

No problem in sharing info and trying to get others to participate. There are lots of “passive participants” for Delhi as many have admitted on their first post (including myself a few months back)!! I’m sure that once we complete our own CP and POE, we’ll also fade out of the forum but we have hopefully built a critical mass that may carry these forums forwards.

Cheers,

Rjain.
