How to tell if an ap was received

I filed
my app on july 12 2005, I would like to know how I can know if my application was received? I sent my app by USPS.
Check is not cleared yet, what that says?

why didn't you send your application with signature confirmation?

Took almost 3 weeks or so for me to get confirmation that my app was received. I wouldnt worry too much.
