How to sponser in-laws on Visitor visa

I'm from India (H1) and want to sponser my in-laws to come to US on visitor visa. They have got a visa appointment in US consulate MUMBAI in March. Please inform me the procedure for this and what documents I need to send for their interview.

My H1 visa expires in May 2007. My company will apply for H-1 extension in either Feb or March. Considering this, Can I still sponser visitor tourisr visa for my in-laws while my H1 extension is pending? Do I have to get my extension approved? Please advice

Some pointers

There is a need for sponsorship here - that would be based on your status. Essentially, you would sponsor their visit here and provide surety via sufficient bank funds and your job. There is a questionnarie you need to fill out, get a statement from the bank about your available funds and get a notary signature on the statement to the Indian consulate that you are inviting them for visiting and that they will go back to India after the visit (and not become public liability here). The purpose of the visit is to be stated.

Google it - you will find plenty of instances. I had done this and had no problems. I had also filled out the visa application forms from here to help them.
Good luck.

Thanks.

The problem is when they appear for visa interview in March, My application for H1 extension would not have been approved. Is it OK just to send the current I-797 which is valid till May 2007 + the receipt numner for the H1 extension?

I checked on www.path2usa.com and followed their suggested paperwork.

It worked for my (it was for my parents, not parents-in-law but I guess the procedure would be the same).

You cannot SPONSOR anybody unless you are a permanent resident. Then you can file Affidavit of support form I-864 and the subforms with all the documents required. This will almost guarantee the visa for your in-laws or any other visitor you want to sponsor.

In your present status you can only support in-laws with some documents proving that there is a real person lives in US and they want to visit this person.
More documents you can provide - the better chance of getting visa your in-laws will have. Be sure to include your employment letter and paystubs as well as all receipts from USCIS.
Good luck.
