Boarding Passes or Passport stamps?

Hello all:

My older brother is going to his interview very soon. He worries to death for the followings. Any advice from you guys will be greatly appreciated.

He got his GC from H-1b. He left the company 2.5 years after green card. Until today, he is still unemployed. He has been exploring business opportunities, but nothing clicks yet. Although employment is not required for naturalization, is he going to have a hard time proving he has been living in the States? He has been supported by his wife and family since he has no income, is it going to be a problem because he got his GC from H-1b?

He went to Canada for 4 days about 4 years ago. Not sure why, he has no stamp on his passport showing he returned to the US. Would boarding passes help? When proving that 5 year residence, what do the officers look at? Passport?

Also, he didn’t get his GC until he was 28, he doesn’t need to worry about the Selective Service thing, does he?

Thank you,
Colin Smith
