How to prepone the date?

Today, I booked the appointment and got the date as 16th Jan 2007 (english) @Chennai consulate.

My question is: Is there any way I can prepone this date to say Oct 2006 ?

What kind of chances are there to do this?

How 2 get an earlier appointment date than scheduled

Now you can see 28th Dec 2006 date is available @Chennai consulate - I cant understand this. When I booked Jan 16th , 2007 was the earliest available and now i see an earlier date.

Is this fair ?

its very simple borninjuly.
When someone cancels and appointment,the date becomes available.So earlier when you got your jan16th date some one else held the appointment on dec28th.Since that person cancelled the dec28th date has become available.If your cancel your jan16th date and take the dec28th appointment date your slot on jan 16th will become available for someone else.Thats how this works.
