How to keep PR status legally?

Dear gurus,

I've gotten some questions that might've been answered over and over in the past, but instead of going back dig into the history (forgive my laziness :p ) it would be gratefully apprecitated for me to receive your expert input here once more. Thanks to you! :)

1. max. stay outside of US after rec'd GC is 6months per year. Is this in a Calendar year concept? For instance: if I take 6month-leave, 2mon in 2004, 4 in 2005, would there still be another 2months left for 2005? or I've used up the limitation for year of 2005?

2. If being hired as a full time employee by an American international company in foreign country, would it be considered as working for US and the 6month rule will be waived?

3. When will be eligible for applying parents' GC, right after becoming Citizen or simply as a GC holder?

Thanks for your insight and time.

Really appreciate your response, JoeF (the real JoeF  ).

But for that 1 year rule: what time frame are we talking about? I mean from when to when the GC holder is allowed to travel outside of US up to 1 year? WE all know before s/he becomes eligible to apply for his/her citizenship, s/he needs to wait min. 5years. So does 1 year rule apply to the entire time BEFORE you become citizen or what???

please keep in mind that travel over 6 months opens you to risk. Travel within six months is the safest for a PR.
