Dear All,

I called National customer Center today.
The first peosn answered the phone could not answer my questions at all.
So I asked her to transfer to Immigration Officer.
She said the new policy will not transfer phone call to IIO anymore.
She said "I could not transfer phone call for case status any more."

Is this true? Any suggestion how to get through IIO(second layer officer?)

Thanks.

800# reps SUCK! they said that to throw you off. They only allow you to talk to an immigration officer when you have already requested 3 status inquiry and you haven't heard anything.

Secondly, you case should be within the processing dates of VSC.

If you don't have that it's unlikely they'll allow you to talk to an immigration officer.

This question has been asked and answered a milion times. The 1-800 line folks are not immigration officers, nor do they have ANY connection or knowledge of the process. Imagine a Life Time books or any other telemarketer just being put in this position.

As Tufan said, the only reason to call is so that, after the 3rd inquiry, you can talk to an IIO. Your dates do need to be in the processing dates (your RD needs to be earlier than Feb 15, 2002 currently).

The people on this line can shed absolutely no light on your case. They barely know the scripts they use and they cannot, for the most part, differentiate between calls that need to go to an IIO and those that do not.

Your best bet is to either schedule an InfoPass appointment, if you are in the participating areas, or call after your ND becomes current.

After posting above message, i got curious, as you said that they don't allow to talk to an immigration officer?

Therefore i called up.

I talked to "Officer White" today. He is an immigration officer at the USCIS. (note: the only reason i was able to talk because my case is within VSC processing time and i haven't heard after 3 case status inquiry, although i got RFE in April 04).

This officer spent 15 mins with me on the phone. He basically has no information on my case. He said it's being processed after RFE was received on April 16th. When i asked him about my H-1B extention for the 8th year(my 7th Year H-1B expires on July 2nd, 2004), he said that 8th year extension might be a discretion!! They may or may not give me 8th year extension. Therefore he suggest that to file EAD(which is also talking 90+ days), and H-1B extension together so that if either one get denied i can still continue to work. H-1B extensions are getting approved in 4-5 months.

He had no timeframe for my case. I guess i'll just wait another month to see the outcome. Turnaround time for RFE is 60 days, that's what he said.

I'll be moving again, so my plan is to not inform USCIS and wait for 30 days. For 30days i can request my apartment to hold my mail.
thanks.
