The only way to do this is

Get CNN/CBS or any of the TV channels to give some camera time. Lou Dobbs/Republicans will be very willing to show his preference to legal immigration. Senators follow TV and nothing else and IV is working on it. At the moment, we are not existent.

Legal immigrants need to rally in New York in front of cameras. WSJ ran a front page article on EB-1 candidate who was really vital to the economy being not able to serve the country due to the present screw up. We have to have the same guy on TV and a lawyer to speak to CNN for 5 minutes.
We do not make up millions but we have brains.

Let's vote for getting together on Aug 19th/Saturday in New York. If we are 100 strong and stage a rally, we will be on TV. Getting a bill for this is very easy; takes a day for the house to clear it.

Please only give positive suggestions and how you can help on this front. THINK GUYS! Make a website? make a flier, get your contacts in the media etc.

This is definitely a way to go for us legal immigrants. Hey maybe i will try to be a part of it. If they EAD for L-2 we deserve it too Dependents of H-1 and people whose GC process is stuck due to retro.
We can do it if we unite.
 
Volunteer or remain silent forever!

Let's not try and work the system here i.e. L2 etc. I am sure there are ways out around this but I would feel better trying to do something 'real' and failing. It is probably 1/2 hour of our time
If it doesn't happen, so be it; we move on with our lives; we do not need a GC to define us.
We need to break the inertia before the Congress says 'border security only'.

Please volunteer to participate. At the moment, the illegals seem to fear less than us.
 
There was once a grass roots movement to allow people to do concurrent filing. Guess what, it worked! But by the time it got into law, it was only another year or so before retrogression became an issue, and all that lobbying to allow people to do concurrent filing is nearly useless now.

I'm not saying you shouldn't do anything. What I am saying is that by the time you see the result you want ever get into law things may change so drastically, beyond your imagination, that your goal will become moot anyways. Futher more, by the time the laws change in the way you wished it to, your case will long be approved, and you'll be planning to file your N-400.

Many before you ave tried such grass roots movement, some have actually been successful. You need to ask yourself, are you doing this for yourself, or for the masses?
 
What's your inspiration?

I am doing it for my self -dignity; to treat myself like a person. At the moment we are acting like beggars asking for INS to show some mercy. We pay them taxes dude!

Besides that, I will save time trying once than thinking about this every week.
I am tired of seeing people crib about what's going on and then dissing themselves week after week.

Tactically, the timing makes sense; if we act now, we may get the SKIL Bill get approved in case the Congress goes forward with some negotiated solution.I think if we are 100 strong we will get huge face time on TV. Local and national channels cover such silly news that it is not even a contest. We just need to bring this before Congress. The last time IV tried to shove the SKIL Bill through the budget bill; the bill and IV got 'thrown out'; why? because there was no grassroots move at all for 'legal immigrants'. If ever we may have a impact, this is the time.

I wonder what's everybody's inspiration for looking at all the comments everyday and not acting?

nyc8300 ....I am not sure how long have you been in this process......but i was as hyper-excited and angry and ready to do something when i was new to this GC process..

to tell you the fact whatever can be done practically is being done by immigrationvoice.org (IV).

my opinion is that one needs to focus on independence from GC process if it is an early stage of filing(eg: eb3-india-2005).......or if one is in the final stage (eg:EB3-india-2001) then you try to live life without paying too much attention and just hope that your time will come....in other words wait it out.

doing a activity without a foresight or proper analysis may backfire and disrupt your normal life..

another thing: paying taxes is not voluntary....every human in the world pays tax to some one else......so you are not doing a favor.....but if you were a citizen you can take proactive steps to make sure your money is not wasted.....but even citizens do not have much say about tax usage....

when you accepted the job...you knew that so much taxes will be deducted from your pay check.....so please stop using this tax argument in future....(you can use this argument when you are doing sales talk to a lawmaker or media person).

dont you guys get it.......immigration is not a right......it depends on demand and supply.......there are too many people wanting to be a USA citizen/resident.......so USA does not care......if you badly want to be here be here on a temp visa......or please wait for your turn(Eb3-india-2006 wait for 7-8 yrs).....once again...they dont care....

there is not much one can do...unless 100k people join in this movement and contribute more than $2k.....only then can we guarantee results.

I don't think of immigration as my right and I am not
fascinated by the GC at all.

Please don't pick on me about every letter I have written here.
Please look at the big picture and suggest something positive.

EB-1/2/3 etc does not matter; even GC does not matter; what we do in the meantime with ourselves does! Look at God Bless You's comments as something positive.

Contingent to Meet CNN

CNN has provided an appointment on the 18th of August in its NYC studios in mid-town to meet a contingent of legal immigrants including H-1b's and people in the immigration process.

We are preparing a small letter of the basic concerns and demands. Our interviews will be either shown as part of the news or may get on one of the talk shows depending on the interest seen in the topic.

Please volunteer to join the group on the 18th morning in New York. We need to get more participation with banners to make this interesting for the media.

Also we need to bring the issue up before the Congress forgets about the legal immigrants and the SKIL bill in the Pence plan.

Umm, if you haven't noticed, unless people are dying or actors are caught on camera doing illicit things, the media in the United States really does not care otherwise. Sex, violence, wars, destruction, and human tolls are the topics that sells newspapers, especially if famous people happen to be involved.

The pages with legal immigration issues are just used for Papier Mâchè projects in pre-school.

Please stay tuned for details on the upcoming meeting. The appointment has been arranged through some contacts within the financial industry.

At this point, we are going to have either a 10-20 person group meet the media and a formal 'morcha' at different times unless it is possible to do it on the same date.

Guys!, this is not as tough as it seems. We are trying to get local NYC tri-state legal immigrants pitch in.

Again! please provide positive suggestions and volunteer.
