How to get a raise without affecting pending LC application?

I am currently working in an academic setting while my LC has been pending over almost three years. My superior wants to bump my salary up because of my good work. But in an academic setting, salary only increase when position changes. Even in my case, the job will be exact same except change of grade of position. Will this grade change affect my LC application or eventually greencard application? or is there anyway to work around this?

Only a change in job title and job requirements would render your LC useless. Going from X to Senior X wouldn't do any harm. But going from engineer/db administrator to engineering manager or lecturer would affect your LC.
