I enjoy reading this forum and have got many useful information here. I hope someone can answer some of my questions. I work in Oregon and work for a company headquartered in California. My employer filed OR petition for me in May in the California Service Center. Now I am interested in filing NIW myself so that the I140/485 approval is not contingent on my employment status. My questions are:
1. How can I find a good NIW lawyer? Should I find a local Oregon lawyer or can I use some good lawyers in California? Can I still use the law firm that works for my employer, maybe even the same laywer who prepared my OR petition?
2. Should I file my NIW to the Nebraska Service Center, to which Oregon belongs, or to the California Service Center? My NIW lawyer will be able to answer this question but I'd like to hear from you guys first. I'd like to file in CSC because the processing time in NSC is too long (about a year?), which may make the NIW valueless because of the my pending OR (and concurrent I-485) petition at CSC.
Thank you for your help.
