How to file EAD renewal

Hi,

I am trying to file my EAD renewal myself. This is because my employer and my lawyer are not willing to file it immediately and are asking me to wait. I, on the other hand, believe it is extremely risky to wait any longer to file for EAD renewal in light of the massive INS delays in EAD approvals. My current EAD expires in 5 months.

In case somebody has experience in filing EAD renewals or has any info on the matter, please let me know how to file an EAD renewal. More specifically,

1. Where do I get the application form? Is it ok to just download it from INS website and print it out on a laser printer? Or do I need some special print out?

2. How do I fill it? Just using a pen is fine, or do I need to get it typed on a computer (adobe acrobat?) in some special way?

3. What supporting docs do I need with the appl?

4. Any other things/stuff I need to do?

I am also in the same boat as you.. My AP/EAD expires in May. I am also contemplating to apply right now as it is taking long time to get approvals. However, I am planing a trip overseas. Not sure if I should apply now or apply after I come back. But i am sure that I will be applying on my own.

Yes, you can download the forms from INS website. You can fill with pen. You don't need special softwares for that. The supporting documentation is given in the application instructions.
I will post if I have more information.
